Renovation of a Contemporary Home

This simple vacation home was built on the shore of Lake Anna in the early 1970’s. The owners recently returned from Bermuda and wanted more outdoor living space, an improved connection to the water and a more playful look. The interior was thoroughly renovated, including a dining room addition and a new cupola that replaced a domed skylight. Exterior work included two covered porches and a deck. The deck extends diagonally, stepping down towards the lake. It ends with a pavilion and stairs to a path to the dock and boathouse. Nautical themes are recalled in the stainless steel cable railings. The new hipped and pyramidal standing seam roofs are reminiscent of the tropics. As the leaves fill in, the deck becomes a tree house.
