Restoring a 1790's Timber Frame Home

The structure was completely gutted to the original timber framing and a new basement was dug. Then to increase the living space the roof was raised two feet, new dormers added, and an oak timber frame addition was constructed at the rear. The home is located on the top of a knoll; the benefit of being able to choose the best site 270 years ago. Generously sized new porches on all sides open to rolling meadows and a lake below. Authenticity was pursued with heart pine floors and wall paneling, granite fieldstone foundations and chimneys, and slate and copper roofs.
