A Log Cabin Restoration

The original chestnut log cabin was built in the 1840’s in the hills of southwestern Virginia.  It was disassembled log by log to be reconstructed on this new site. South facing windows and porch provide for summer shading, passive solar heating, and take advantage of views of the adjacent lake. A modern rear addition is designed to look like it dates from the late 1800’s. Interiors feature recycled poplar flooring, salvaged windows, mantels and doors, exposed logs and wainscot trim.  Modern needs are being met with high efficiency HVAC systems, a modern kitchen and amenities and hidden structure far exceeding requirements.
